Finance Support
How to contact us
Write to support@serhiip.dev — this is the only Finance support address.
The address is given here both as plain text and as a link, so that you can copy it even where links do not open.
We reply in Ukrainian, Russian, Polish and English. Usually within a few business days. Requests about your personal data (access, rectification, erasure, portability) are answered within one month, as the law requires, and free of charge.
Finance is a small project, and support is handled by the developer himself. We have no round-the-clock hotline, but no message is left unanswered.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
The honest answer: right now there is no way to recover a password.
Finance does not send emails at all — the app has neither email confirmation nor a “Forgot password” link. You can only change your password if you know the current one.
If the password is lost, the only way out is to write to support@serhiip.dev and ask us to delete the account, then sign up again. Your data is not restored in the process.
We know this is bad, and we are working on password recovery by email. Until then, please keep your password in a password manager.
How do I delete my account?
On iPhone: Settings → Profile → Delete account. You will need to enter your password — this protects the account from being wiped by someone who gets hold of your unlocked phone.
On Android: the “Delete account” button currently only signs you out and clears the data on the phone, but does NOT delete it on the server. We are fixing this. For now, write to support@serhiip.dev and we will delete it manually.
Without the app installed: also by email to support@serhiip.dev.
Detailed instructions, along with an honest list of what gets deleted and what remains, are on the “Account deletion” page.
What will the person I invite to a shared space see?
Everything that space contains. Not the “shared expenses”, but everything:
- every transaction: the amount, date, currency, account, category and your note;
- all accounts and their balances;
- all budgets, the plan and subscriptions;
- all receipts with the list of purchased items;
- who exactly added each entry — the author's name and photo;
- the email addresses of everyone in the space.
There is no “only I can see this expense” mode in the app. If there are expenses you would rather not show, keep them in your personal space: personal and shared spaces live separately and do not mix.
Is it safe to connect a bank? Could you pay for something with my money?
No, we could not — neither technically nor legally.
Connecting a bank grants read access only: the list of accounts, the balances and the statement. For the Monobank token we request permission solely to read the statement and the customer details. European banks are connected through a licensed open banking aggregator in “account information only” mode: your bank login and password are entered on the bank's side and never reach us.
There is not a single request in Finance's code that creates a payment. There is no “transfer” feature in the app.
The bank access secret is stored on our side in encrypted form. You can disconnect the bank at any time in the app settings — after that we stop contacting the bank. A Monobank token can additionally be revoked on the bank's own side.
Worth knowing: disconnecting a bank does not delete the accounts and transactions that have already been imported — they remain as your history. If you want those removed too, delete the account or the transactions manually.
Where does the photo of a receipt go?
To an external artificial intelligence service for recognition — currently the Google Gemini model. It receives the whole image and a request to pull the store, date, amount and list of items out of it. None of your identifiers — neither your name nor your email — are added to the request.
We do not store the photo ourselves: it lives only in the server's memory for the duration of the request. Only the recognized text remains in the database.
If you do not want photos of your receipts to leave our server, do not use photo recognition. Scanning the fiscal QR code and manual entry work without sending any images.
The receipt is not recognized, or was recognized incorrectly
What you can do:
- Photograph the receipt straight on, in good light, in full, without glare or folds.
- If the receipt has a fiscal QR code, scan it instead of taking a photo. That way the receipt comes from the fiscal operator line by line and without recognition errors.
- Any line item, amount and category can be corrected by hand; the app remembers your version and will suggest it itself next time.
If recognition consistently does not work, write to us: the problem may be in the way the service is set up on our side, not in your receipt.
Can anyone else see my data?
Two cases that are important to know about:
1. The profile photo. It is served over a direct link without signing in — that is how the apps themselves load it. The link cannot be guessed, but it is legitimately visible to the members of your shared spaces. If that bothers you, delete the photo in your profile: your initials will be shown instead. Copies already downloaded may remain in browser caches for some time.
2. The invitation link. The invitation preview page opens without signing in and shows the name of the space, the name of the person inviting and the email address of the person being invited, if one was specified. Send the invitation code only to the person it is meant for.
We are closing both of these gaps — the current status is described in the Privacy Policy, in the section “What we already know about and are fixing”.
How to change the main currency, and why amounts are recalculated
The main currency is set for the space: Settings → space → base currency. In a shared space any member can change it.
Transactions in other currencies are converted into the main currency at the official rate of the National Bank of Ukraine for the date of each transaction — not at today's rate. That is why old amounts in reports do not “jump” after the rate changes.
The app fetches the rates directly from the National Bank's website. This is the only external address the app itself contacts, bypassing our server; no personal data is sent there.
What the app asks the phone for, and why
- Camera: to photograph a receipt and to scan QR codes — the fiscal QR code on a receipt and the QR code of an invitation to a shared space. Frames are not saved; a photo of a receipt is compressed right away and sent for recognition.
- Photos: only the file you have picked yourself in the system dialog. The app does not ask for access to your whole gallery.
- Biometrics (Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint): only to unlock the app. The app receives nothing from the system but a “yes” or “no” answer; fingerprints and the face model are not available to it.
What the app never asks for at all: location, contacts, calendar, microphone, SMS, access to other apps' notifications.
What to include in your email so that we can help faster
- The email address the account is registered to (without the password — never send us your password, we do not ask for it).
- Your device and system version: for example, “iPhone 13, iOS 18” or “Pixel 7, Android 15”.
- What you were doing and what you got instead of what you expected.
- A screenshot, if the error is visible on screen. Blur out the amounts if you do not want to show them — they are usually not needed for diagnosis.
Please never send us your password, a bank token or codes from your bank. We do not ask for them under any circumstances.
